Verna Malone brings 30 years of banking experience to her role as Vice Chairman and Chief Credit Officer at Legacy Bank. “Our goal is to be Arizona’s premier Private Bank,” she states. “We deliver expert financial advice, exceptional customer service, and customized financial solutions. We want to win the trust and confidence of both men and women in the marketplace.”

After graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Finance and Banking, Verna joined Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago, where she led a team of internal consultants. While working for Continental, she entered the evening MBA Program at the University of Chicago, and eventually became a full-time student.

With MBA in hand, Verna returned to Continental Bank, attended the Commercial Lending Training Program, and served as a loan officer in Chicago and San Francisco. Subsequently, she joined Deloitte Haskins & Sells in their San Francisco office and managed a group of consultants who provided services to financial institutions on the west coast.

Verna joined the Founders Bank of Arizona Board in 1988 and traveled from California to Scottsdale to attend the monthly Board meetings. She and Tom, her husband, became increasingly drawn to Arizona. In 1993, Verna and Tom relocated to Scottsdale with their two daughters where she continued to serve on the Founders Bank of Arizona Board until the bank was sold.

Verna is an active community volunteer. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Phoenix Country Day School, is Past President of the Board of Free Arts of Arizona, and for the past several years served on the Board of National Charity League, Scottsdale Chapter.

“I love problem solving,” Verna states. “Looking back at my professional and volunteer experiences, I can honestly say my favorite activity has been listening to clients and thinking of creative solutions that fit their needs.”
