Remote deposits

A Scottsdale private bank that caters to the affluent is offering remote deposit capabilities to all of its clients so they can deposit checks from anywhere in the world.

Legacy Bank provides its clients with a small portable check-scanning device that attaches to a computer’s USB port.  The service largely has been employed by large commercial customers.

“This device has broken the last geographical barrier to clients banking with us from anywhere,” said Legacy Bank Chief Executive and President Julian Fruhling.

“Now we can provide convenient, total private banking services to clients throughout the Valley and around the world.  The number of offices we have is no longer relevant,” Fruhling said.

In 2004, federal regulars passed the Check 21 law, which allows for an image to be presented as legal representation of a check.
